A massive milestone in Marvel Comics history, Fantastic Four #296 is the oversized 25th Anniversary Issue celebrating a quarter-century of Marvel's First Family (1961–1986). To mark the occasion, Marvel co-creator Stan Lee returned to script the issue, paired with the legendary art team of John Buscema and Joe Sinnott. This issue serves as a grand celebration of the team's legacy and a major status-quo reset for the lineup.
The title "Homecoming!" is literal: Ben Grimm (The Thing) is finally returning to the Fantastic Four. Following the events of Secret Wars, Ben had chosen to stay behind on Battleworld, leaving She-Hulk to take his place on the team. After a long period of separation and solo wandering, a mutated and deeply conflicted Ben arrives back at the team's temporary headquarters.
